The Center for Prior Learning Recognition (CPLR) is the university’s central prior learning service to help students receive recognition for what they already know so that they can more quickly achieve their academic and professional goals.

Credit for Prior Coursework

Apply credits earned at prior institutions toward your degree. For undergraduate degrees, that can cover up to 75% of your program. To start the credit evaluation process, contact each of your prior institutions and request that your official transcripts be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar at Document@PurdueGlobal.edu or by mail to:

Credit for Work Experience

If you believe you have work experience applicable toward your program of study, enroll in a College Credit for Work Experience course. Undergraduate students who complete and submit a Credit for Work Experience portfolio save an average of nearly $11,000 on tuition.

Credit for Military Training

On average, Purdue Global military graduates are awarded 54% of the credits needed for an associate’s and 45% of the credits needed for a bachelor’s.

If you are a military student, have the official transcripts of your training sent directly from the service branch to the Office of the Registrar right away. Only transcripts received directly from Army/ACE or Sailor/Marine will be accepted for official review.

Average Military Credit Award: Source: Purdue Global Office of Reporting and Analysis, September 2021. 2020–2021 academic year. Credit earned in an associate’s degree program through Purdue Global applied earlier as part of a pool of prior degree credit is not included in this calculation. The actual percentage may be slightly higher for students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs. Individual experiences will vary. Experiential Learning Savings: In 2021–2022, incoming Purdue Global students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for evaluation earned an average of 33 quarter credit hours toward their Purdue Global undergraduate degrees. Based on these experiential learning credits, tuition savings for nonmilitary students were on average $10,743.00. Tuition savings calculated as 33 quarter credit hours x standard tuition rate of $371.00 = $12,243.00 - $1,500.00 course fee = $10,743.00. Savings for students vary depending on the student’s individual prior learning experience. Savings for 2021–2022 incoming Indiana students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for review were $9,700. Savings for 2021–2022 incoming military students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for review ranged from $3,945.00 to $6,090.00.
